Sailing is fun in our Escape "Rumba" or Hobie "Wave" sail boats. Free sailing lessons on Monday.

An evening campfire with friends is a great way to end the day.  There are numerous lakeside campfire pits complete with complimentary fire wood.

Whether you choose to enjoy the warm, cozy ambiance of the Main Lodge sitting room (pictured right) and it's adjoining game room or the pristine beauty of our great outdoors, you will find many activities and attractions to enhance your stay.  Brindley's lodge is a gathering place for many of our guests to enjoy ping pong, pool, TV, video games and each other.  On cool spring, fall and winter evenings, choose a book from our library, settle into one of our overstuffed leather chairs and escape to the authors world.  Perhaps instead of reading you'd like to work on one of our many jig saw puzzles or play a board game with friends.  A large fieldstone fireplace adds to the north woods ambiance.

Connected to the lodge is our dining room and store.  We sell convenience groceries, dairy products, candy, ice cream cones, sodas and fishing tackle.  Should you get hungry we have pizza and packaged sandwiches.

Outdoors the sandy beach and sheltered bay waters enable water enthusiasts to swim, sail, water-ski or relax in the sun. Get physical by using our bicycles, sail boats, canoes, paddle boat, kayaks, playground equipment and lawn games. Planned activities such as turtle races (pictured), a week long treasure hunt, fishing contests, ice cream social, campfires, and more provide additional fun for everyone.

Area Attractions:

We are 15 paved miles from the lakeside village of Walker.  The Leech Lake area has unique shops, stores, restaurants, the Cass County Museum, four golf courses and the Northern Lights Casino.

State Trails  -  Two of Minnesota's most popular biking and snowmobile trail systems intersect in Walker.  The 50 mile Heartland Trial from Park Rapids to Cass Lake and the Paul Bunyan Trail which runs from Brainerd to Bemidji and beyond.  Both are paved for easy biking.

Chippewa National Forest  -  Leech Lake is in the heart of the large Chippewa National Forest.  There are numerous areas of interest and opportunities to explore.  Popular areas include.

Shingobee Recreation Area  -  Six miles of hiking/cross-country ski trails loop through mixed aspen, birch and pine woods along two small lakes and the Shingobee River.  Rolling terrain and scenic overlooks.  The trail system connects to the North Country National Scenic Trail.  Hiking is available year-round.  Trails are groomed for cross-country skiing as conditions permit.  A snow sledding hill is open as conditions permit.  Located six miles Southwest of Walker on Highway 34.

The "Lost 40"  -  is a (actually 144 acres) stand of virgin red and white pine forest that was untouched by early loggers due to an error that incorrectly mapped the area as a lake.  These white and red pines are 300 - 400 years old !  A long hour drive north to Alvwood MN.

More information is available from the Chippewa National Forest, Walker Ranger District. (218) 547-1044.  www.fs.fed.us/r9/chippewa

Itasca State Park  -  headwaters of the Mississippi River.  Itasca is Minnesota's oldest state park.  The park totals more than 32,000 acres and includes more than 100 lakes.  Walk across the mighty Mississippi as it starts its winding journey 2,552 miles to the Gulf of Mexico.  Stand under towering 200 year old pines at Preacher's Grove.  A fun adventure is climbing the Aiton Heights Fire Tower.  A scenic 5.5-mile paved bicycle trail runs along the east side of Lake Itasca and connects Douglas Lodge and the Mississippi Headwaters.   Rental bikes (including electric-assist bikes) are available May through mid-October near the Boat Landing.

The north entrance is on U.S. Highway 200 about an hour’s drive from Brindley’s.  Summer hours: 8 AM - 7 PM daily.  http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/outdoor_activities/state_parks/itasca/doandsee.pdf
